I’m not sure humans 12,000 years ago made and drank so much beer. Interesting but speculative clip.
From what I have heard there is evidence of bread making going back 12,000 years.
Google AI says: The earliest direct evidence of bread-making dates back approximately 14,400 years
We know that humans began to use grains more after coming out of the last ice age. Twelve thousand years ago, the Fertile Crescent was much more suitable for growing grains than it is today.
From what I've heard, it didn't take long for humans to figure out how to make beer.
Although I detest alcohol and what it does to people, it seems to have played a major role in the entire history of civilization. It was likely an incentive for agriculture.
Drinking something with even a low alcohol content might have been safer than drinking water. Beer may have served a practical purpose in early civilization.
Ancient Egyptians were expert beer makers. They paid the pyramid workers partially with a low-alcohol beer referred to as "liquid-bread". They would eat a grain porridge that had beer in it.
Monks in the middle ages were also expert beer makers. People who went to church would be served a pint of beer afterwards.
Reportedly, early America often used taverns as meeting places, which may have played a role in the revolution. Some Europeans described early America as the drunkest country on Earth. The Whisky Rebellion led to the formation of the US Constitution.

Evidence of beer making goes back 13,000 years to the Rakafet Cave in Israel, where hunter-gatherers left behind stone mortars used to process and ferment wheat or barley into a liquid porridge. [1]
Other early milestones in the history of beer include:
- 9,000 years ago (China): Chemical residues on ancient pottery at sites like Jiahu and Qiaotou show people brewed a sweet, fermented beverage from rice, honey, and fruit (often for ritual feasts). [1, 2, 3]
- 5,500 to 5,000 years ago (Middle East): Jug fragments with beer stone residue at Godin Tepe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran provide the earliest chemical proof of barley beer. Around the same time, the Sumerians and early Egyptians began documenting and scaling up production. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- 3,900 years ago (Mesopotamia): A Sumerian poem honoring Ninkasi, the patron goddess of brewing, preserved the oldest known written beer recipe.
